Ohel announces the opening of a vital new service for the Jewish community. One of the most difficult issues in recognizing or discovering sexual abuse is deciding how to react and where to turn. In addition to feelings of upset and confusion, it is normal for victims and their families to feel overwhelmed. The Helpline is available for people encountering sexual abuse from various viewpoints, ranging from victims to concerned friends of a possible
victim.
Questions may include a wide range of topics: Should I be concerned that my sons 10 year-old friend is talking about things he shouldnt know about? My daughter has become very moody and easily brought to tears; should I imagine the worst? How do we get help? Do I need to talk about the abuse that happened to me when I was younger? Our strictly confidential e-mail Helpline will allow anyone facing sexual abuse issues to find an opportunity to share concerns, ask questions and receive guidance, or to simply talk. Contact Dr. D.
