Two residential housing opportunities will be available soon in Bergen County.

Ohel helps adults with developmental disabilities prepare for — and maintain — employment through pre-employment training and job coaching in a supportive, encouraging, and fun environment. Tailored to individuals with developmental disabilities who are interested in joining the workforce, this program includes discovery, assessment, job skills training, and placement, while focusing on participants’ abilities and passions. While most of the job skills training takes place one-on-one, our prevocational program also includes enriching group activities and socialization opportunities.

Our programs help individuals with developmental disabilities discover careers that match their abilities and passions, so they can enjoy volunteering and working in their communities and lead more fulfilling lives. Job coaching for adults who are engaged in paid employment to help enhance their experiences, improve on-the-job interactions, and maintain employment. Some of the jobs participants have held are cook, cashier, stock assistant, personal shopper, hospital personnel, grocery bagger, delivery person, mailroom clerk, food prepper, receptionist, and clerical staff.
