Ohel’s Day Habilitation (DayHab) provides a structured program that can help individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities over the age of 18 build relationships and work towards an independent life. It’s a daily program that involves a combination of recreation and education. Participants have an opportunity to create friendships, participate in meaningful activities, and learn valuable life skills.
Key skills we focus on:
- Communication and socialization
- Money and budgeting
- Hygiene
- Travel skills
- Reading, writing, and penmanship
Fun and Enriching Activities
Life at our Day Hab is never boring. Our days can include:
- Day trips – everywhere from the library to the zoo to Six Flags
- Games
- Cooking and baking
- Puzzles
- Dance
- Arts and crafts
- Karaoke
- Community service – ask about our work with Meals on Wheels!
We personalize the Day Hab experience to the individual.
We currently operate in two locations:
- Far Rockaway
- Brooklyn: We have two locations in Brooklyn, one of which is tailored to the needs of older clients.
Transportation is available for most participants, and a sensory room is available at each location.
