Caregiver Support for Older Adults

Caregiver Support: It takes support to give support

Even under the best circumstances, caregivers of older adults experience a significant impact on their lives and their mental health. There’s the mental load of care coordination, as well as the long hours, possible disagreements that arise, and the anguish of witnessing a loved one endure pain and frustration up close. Ohel recognizes the vital role caregivers play in their families and their communities and offers professional caregiver support for anyone looking after older family members.
Services include:

  • In-person support groups for caregivers
  • Online support groups for caregivers
  • Individual counseling for caregivers

Caregiver Support Groups

Caregivers of aging parents and grandparents are already connected by experience, and we believe by connecting them in person, they can lend each other much needed strength. Our in-person support groups bring people from around New York together in a professionally guided and monitored environment, to ensure everyone is comfortable and getting the most out of the experience.

We also have a wide range of digital caregiver support groups, available to people living outside New York, including targeted support groups for caregivers and family members of Holocaust survivors.

Individual Counseling

Individual counseling is another important part of our program. Our diverse staff is experienced, compassionate, and on hand to help caregivers build resilience. Sessions are available in eight languages, both online and in person.
