Campers at Ruach K’tonton In West Hempstead Raise Over $2,000 for the Children and Families of OHEL
OHEL’s youngest fundraisers are in action.
In the second week of camp this summer, in keeping with the theme of "Fun with the A B C's campers at Ruach K’tonton in West Hempstead, with campers aged 1-4, were introduced to the Bowl for OHEL program. The program is an opportunity for the campers to make a difference in the lives of the children and families of OHEL by raising essential funds while having a great time. From Monday through Friday of letter "B" week the campers at Ruach K’tonton have knocked down countless bowling pins and with the help of their sponsors, they raised over $2,000.
Funds raised this summer will be part of the Mezuzah campaign for Camp Kaylie, the Dr. Joe Silver Campus in Wurtsboro, NY. According to Camp Director Jill Smulevitz, “At Ruach K'tonton our children learn that it is not only important to be thankful and appreciative for all that we have, but to reach out to those who do not.” As young as the children are they understand that Tzedakah is part of our daily routine. The Bowl-for-OHEL has been incorporated each year in our theme because we know we can make a difference, all the while, having a lot of fun!
