Mental Health Housing

Independent, but Never Alone

Healing begins with stability. Since 1985, Ohel has provided individuals in the Jewish community living with mental illness a secure foundation to grow, recover, and build the skills they need for an independent life. Success looks different for everyone, and we tailor our approach to meet each individual’s needs. More than just housing, we cultivate a supportive community, where residents and staff connect through Shabbatons, movie nights, and other group activities that bring everyone together. Our residences are kosher, keep Shabbos and the Yomim Tovim, and provide an environment rooted in tradition and observance.

For those who are able, individuals can engage in monthly weekend retreats, hiking trips and much more, all geared toward both psychiatric rehabilitation and building our community.

Ohel offers a continuum of housing options, serving people at all stages of life and recovery. Residents come from acute care facilities, hospitals, or the community, staying anywhere from two weeks to two decades or more, depending on their needs. Whether someone requires consistent, long-term support or is working toward complete independence, our psychiatric rehabilitation model—informed by decades of experience and the latest trauma-informed care approaches—ensures the right level of assistance for every individual.
