Pregnancy and childbirth are profound experiences that can bring immense joy but also significant emotional challenges. Many women experience anxiety and depression as they adjust to pregnancy, the birth of their child, and the many new responsibilities that come with motherhood. At Ohel, we understand the importance of comprehensive mental health support during this transformative time.
Understanding Postpartum Depression
Postpartum depression can cause overwhelming feelings of sadness and anxiety, making it difficult for a mother to care for herself and her baby. Our highly trained and compassionate professionals provide a safe and supportive environment where women can openly share their experiences and receive the help they need. In addition to treating postpartum depression, we also screen and support pregnant women who may be at risk, helping to prevent mental health challenges before they arise.
Comprehensive Perinatal Mental Health Services
Our specialized services are designed to meet the unique needs of each mother:
- Prenatal Consultation: Short-term sessions to help women prepare emotionally for the postpartum period.
- Postpartum Screenings: Assessments to identify depression, anxiety, and trauma following childbirth.
- Self-Care Strategies: Personalized guidance to promote mental and emotional well-being.
- Perinatal Support Groups: A welcoming space where pregnant and postpartum women can connect and receive support.
- Individual Therapy: Tailored one-on-one counseling for perinatal women navigating emotional challenges.
- Perinatal Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP): An innovative treatment that supports both mother and baby — even in utero — particularly for women who have experienced pregnancy loss or trauma.
Our mental health specialists, trained in evidence-based practices, provide expert care to help women overcome postpartum depression and anxiety. “When women receive mental health support during pregnancy, it can improve their and their families’ emotional and physical well-being,” says Tzivy Reiter, LCSW, Director of Clinical & National Trauma Services.
Additionally, we offer medication management with a PSI (Postpartum Support International)-certified prescriber to ensure the highest level of care for women who may benefit from this treatment.
Specialized Support Through Project LAUNCH
Through Project LAUNCH, Ohel places expert clinicians directly in pediatric and OB-GYN offices, providing critical early intervention and education for women experiencing postpartum depression or those at risk. With compassionate screening and professional referrals, we help mothers access the care they need to regain their emotional well-being.
These services are offered completely free of charge, ensuring that every mother receives the support she deserves.
