If you’re working with individuals at risk for suicide, Ohel offers practical, trauma-informed tools to support your clinical work.

Resources were created by Tzivy Reiter, LCSW, Ohel’s Director of Clinical and National Trauma Services, based on the Stanley Brown Safety Plan, and are designed for therapists to facilitate meaningful safety planning and intervention with young people.

 

 

 

Ride The Wave

Ride The Wave is a resource created by Tzivy Reiter, LCSW, Ohel’s Director of Clinical and National Trauma Services. It is designed for therapists to help guide young people through life’s tough moments, particularly thoughts of suicide. Included in the Ride The Wave resource is a personal “Youth Coping Plan,” available in both a home and integrated home/school version. The resource also includes “Shining A Light,” a guide for youth that explains how to use the coping plan, and “Lighting The Way,” an educational guide for parents.

It includes practical steps to help an individual “ride the wave,” one moment at a time. Accompanying this coping plan is a guide titled Shining A Light, which explains how and when to use the plan. It is meant to help individuals understand the “why” behind each step so that it truly works for them in the moments they need it most. You can print out this coping plan for them to keep at home.
