New Camp Announced: A Message from Ohel and Camp Kaylie

Exciting News from Camp Kaylie

For more than five decades, Ohel has served children and families throughout the Jewish community with compassion, dignity, and an unwavering commitment to helping every individual reach their potential. Through Camp Kaylie, we have also spent 18 years demonstrating the extraordinary impact of bringing typically developing children and children with special needs together in an inclusive camp community

Historically, Camp Kaylie has operated with boys during one half of the summer and girls during the other. For years, families have asked us for a full-summer option for both. As we have previously announced, we are proud that we will be able to offer a full summer experience for girls and a full summer experience for boys, beginning Summer, 2027.

Now, our excitement for next summer is mounting knowing that we will have a home for the second Camp Kaylie on the campus of the former Camp Kennybrook, in Monticello, 20 minutes from the current Camp Kaylie in Wurtsboro. According to Rabbi Eli Brazil, Camp Kaylie Director, “The new campus is amazing, a gift from Hashem. It is already beautiful and we are committing to bring enhancements to the new camp that will bring it to the same level of both beauty and functionality as our current camp.”

Every successful Jewish camp strengthens Jewish identity, creates lifelong friendships and connects another generation of children to Judaism and to one another. Camp Kaylie adds another dimension to that mission. We believe deeply that children with special needs deserve those same opportunities – and that typically developing children benefit enormously from sharing those experiences with them.

When your child attends Camp Kaylie, they return home with a maturity that is unparalleled. This is a result of the exceptional leaders that are role models for Kaylie campers. Many of the staff that parents have come to know and respect will expand their stay at camp for the full summer. We continue to recruit more to join our roster as we build out our staffing.

We are excited to now have two full summer Camp Kaylies. Summer 2027 will be a transitional summer as we invest and upgrade our second location to match the first. 

We are beyond excited that hundreds more children will be able to experience the magic of Camp Kaylie.
