Proactive and Responsive Trauma Care
Ohel’s Zachter Family National Trauma Center hosts a comprehensive approach to trauma care. We help individuals, families, and entire communities heal in the wake of crises, but we don’t wait for tragedy to strike to address trauma.
“We have expertise not just in crisis response, but in a more preventive, proactive approach to trauma,” says Tzivy Reiter, LCSW, Director of Clinical and National Trauma Services. “Our services and resources build resilience.”
Immediate Support After a Crisis
After a crisis, Ohel’s trauma team can be on the scene offering immediate support and trauma-informed therapy. We offer access to services and counsel from our trauma experts to schools, synagogues, and community leaders. Our tailored crisis interventions include teacher/first responder training, school services, and first-responder support.
Healing Through Community and Support
Ohel offers specialized support groups for those dealing with trauma and grief. Whether individuals have lost a loved one or are grappling with the anxieties of a crisis, an Ohel group can be available for you to connect with others who understand your pain. Our Partners in Grief Program pairs people who have suffered a recent loss with someone who has suffered a similar loss. Ohel pairs mentors with recently grieving individuals and the annual retreat for parents who have lost adult children, Ohel fosters healing and growth.
Our community education programs and our rich library of resources build individuals’ and communities’ capacity to face challenges. Our webinars, forums, and presentations raise awareness of trauma-related needs and offer coping strategies. We provide learning resources for educators and students from preschool through high school, including a resilience workbook that have already benefited tens of thousands of children in the United States, Israel, and around the world..
